What is an enzyme cleaner for pets?

Not sure what an enzyme cleaner for pets is? We've got you covered in our article!

An enzyme cleaner is a specific type of cleaner that uses good bacteria in combination with specially selected natural enzymes to eradicate odours and stains. In this instance, we are referring to a pet enzyme cleaner. Enzyme cleaners for pets are specifically produced to combat odours and pet mess such as; pet vomit, pet urine and pet faeces.

Pet enzyme cleaners can also remove more general pet odours from the air, fabrics, and surfaces in and around the home.

How do pet enzyme cleaners work?

Cleaning with enzymes for pets is different from cleaning with off the shelf chemicals. Pet enzyme cleaners use a combination of naturally occurring enzymes and bacteria. The enzymes speed up the process of breaking down the harmful bacteria in the pet mess. The good bacteria in the enzyme cleaner then eliminates the remaining harmful bacteria particles by consuming them. This process leaves behind only good bacteria and the pleasant smell of lemon, orange, and added neroli flower.

How to use Bio one™ enzyme cleaner

Bio one™  enzymatic cleaner for dog urine is straightforward to use. Easily remove pet odours on soft furnishings, hard surfaces and in the air in just a couple of steps.

Step one – mix the concentrate with water

Bio one™  cleaner requires water to activate the enzymes. The first step is to mix the concentrated enzyme cleaner with the recommended amount of water. The levels needed for each variation of Bio one™  can be found on the side of the spray bottle. Once mixed up, the product is ready to use. Make sure to shake the bottle well before each application.

Step two – preparation

Before applying Bio one™ to the area, you should remove any solid debris, including bits of vomit or faeces. After removing the bits, take a dry cloth or paper towel and remove any excess liquid. Keep dabbing the area until all the liquid has been soaked up into the cloth.

Step three – application

Thoroughly spray the area to saturate it with the enzyme cleaner. If you’re refreshing the air around pet bedding, you can spray it directly into the air to remove bad odours.

Step four – waiting

Enzyme cleaner takes a little bit of time to do its magic. Once applied, you should wait 5-10 minutes before moving to step five.

Step five – agitating

The next step is to rub the area with a clean cloth; this will help to spread the enzyme cleaner into the fibres if using it on soft furnishings or carpets.

Step 6 – leave to dry and repeat if necessary

The final step is to leave the area to dry in the air. You may need to repeat the process for extra stubborn stains and odours. Enzymes require water for activation. Once the area dries, the enzyme cleaner ceases to function. Make sure when repeating the process to fully saturate the odour or stain with Bio one™  each time.

What are enzymes?

Don’t be fooled to think that because enzymes are natural they are less effective than chemical cleaners. Enzymes are nature’s very own powerful cleaning tools. Making them the go to choice for pet owners who do not want to spray harmful chemicals around their pets and their home.

Simply put, enzymes are all around us performing millions of important tasks in our bodies and in nature every single day. They are a type of protein that act like a biological catalyst to speed up the break down of organic compounds.

Similarly to how saliva, (which contains enzymes), initiates the digestion process by breaking down food in our mouths, cleaning enzymes use the same ‘enzymatic digestion’ to effectively break down and eradicate the organic proteins present in urine, faeces, vomit, drool, dirt, food, and more.

This process not only makes cleaning easier but also prevents the growth of bad bacteria – the root cause of those unpleasant odours – in the air, on surfaces, and within the fibres of your soft furnishings.
