Motion sickness is more common than you think, and we’ve all been there. Whether it’s the dog, the baby, or a drunken group of friends it’s something nobody wants to deal with, but, when it happens, it requires quick action.
Cleaning fresh vomit
- Take action quickly
Before attempting to remove the foul odour, you must first remove all sick from the inside of your vehicle. To begin, pat the sick to absorb as much of it as possible; this will clean up the sick from the car to your cloth or paper towel. Try not to rub the area too much as the sick will spread and may stain your seats. - Use an enzyme cleaner
Using an enzyme cleaner or odour remover spray, such as Bio one™ will help remove any lingering odours. Saturate the area with the Bio one™ and allow the enzymes to work for at least 5 to 10 minutes. This gives the enzyme enough time to eat away at the odour-causing bacteria in the vomit. The enzymatic compounds break down the core components of the stains and remove the smell completely rather than just masking them.
If you don’t have an enzyme cleaner, we recommend using cornstarch and baking soda until you can get your hands on one. Sprinkling either of the two generously on the affected area and allowing it to sit overnight to eliminate odour. However, in most cases, you can simply leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before vacuuming, at which point the horrible vomit smell will have vanished and any liquid that you hadn’t been able to remove will have been absorbed. - Leave to dry
Once the enzyme cleaner has been used, scrub the area once last time and leave the area to dry. The smell of vomit should be completely gone without causing any harm to your car’s interior. Your car furnishings will be left with a fragrant smell of lemon, orange and neroli flower.
Cleaning dried vomit
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to clean up vomit right away. You may not have an enzymatic cleaner such as Bio one™ to hand when an accident happens, leaving you with dried sick or an awful lingering odour that is embedded into the fibres of your car.
To get started, simply follow these slightly different steps: The solid material isn’t going to be as easy to remove. Using a scraping tool, try to remove as much as possible. To remove smaller particles, use a vacuum cleaner. Repeat this process until you’ve removed all of the dry material. Once this is completed, proceed with the cleaning procedure outlined above.
For older smells and stains, it is important to thoroughly saturate the area with an odour eliminator spray such as Bio one™. Once the entire area has been thoroughly saturated with the enzyme cleaner, wait for the enzymes to work their magic and eat away at the bad bacteria that is causing the odour. We recommend waiting about 30 minutes or longer before scrubbing older stains and removing the leftover residue.
If you can still smell the area after trying applying Bio one™ again overnight. Ensure the area remains wet for Bio one™ to work correctly. Bio one™ is an entirely safe odour eliminator spray made of natural ingredients that are perfect for quick accidents in the home, in the car or out and about.
Pro-Tip
When it comes to a long-term solution for getting rid of the vomit smell in your car, Bio one™ is your best friend. Even if you are unable to clean it immediately, its natural odour-absorbing properties can work wonders in restoring the smell of your car.
What are enzymes?
Don’t be fooled to think that because enzymes are natural they are less effective than chemical cleaners. Enzymes are nature’s very own powerful cleaning tools. Making them the go to choice for customers who do not want to spray harmful chemicals around their pets, children, car and their home.
Simply put, enzymes are all around us performing millions of important tasks in our bodies and in nature every single day. They are a type of protein that act like a biological catalyst to speed up the break down of organic compounds.
Similarly to how saliva, (which contains enzymes), initiates the digestion process by breaking down food in our mouths, cleaning enzymes use the same ‘enzymatic digestion’ to effectively break down and eradicate the organic proteins present in urine, faeces, vomit, drool, dirt, food, and more.
This process not only makes cleaning easier but also prevents the growth of bad bacteria – the root cause of those unpleasant odours – in the air, on surfaces, and within the fibres of your soft furnishings.
Try out Bio one™ today, vomit and the other nasties is what nature created enzymes for.
