How to remove pet odours from carpets

We all know our pets can make our carpets smelly very quickly. We suggest spraying Bio one™ enzyme cleaner over your carpets to keep on top of general pet smells.

Dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds, reptiles and virtually any other pets you keep can come with their own smell. We love them dearly, but when they take over our homes, it can feel like we no longer have control of how our house smells.

Harsh chemical air fresheners are off-limits, can be overpowering and even some essential oil diffusers can be very dangerous for animals.

Carpets trap dirt and odour within the fibres, long thick carpets especially, can become very smelly very quickly when you have an animal in the household. No one likes to sit on the cold floor, even your animals unless it is a very hot day of course. In this article, we discuss how you can remove pet odours from your carpet using Bio one™enzyme cleaner.

General pet odours

That non-distinct pet smell that your pet gives off without getting dirty, wet or having an accident is a common complaint of many pet owners. They feel like their house just smells a bit doggy or cat-like, often these smells are trapped in the carpet. Bio one™ enzyme cleaner used on a regular basis as part of a cleaning regime can banish the bad odours for good from your carpet. It’s completely safe to use around pets and contains no harmful chemicals, in fact, it is made from 100% naturally occurring ingredients.

We suggest spraying Bio one™ enzyme cleaner over your carpets to keep on top of general pet smells. This can be done at any time but after hoovering is the ideal time to incorporate it into your routine. The carpet fibres are also agitated during hoovering which will help the enzyme cleaner eradicate those pesky smells.

Pet accidents

Let’s not shuffle around the point, pet accidents generally include pee, poop and vomit. These troublesome accidents often create quite a pong that lingers for days and weeks long. Enzyme cleaners such as Bio one™are perfect for this job, the natural enzymes eat away at the bacteria and organic material in the sick, poo and pee, leaving behind fresh smelling carpet.

To get rid of fresh accidents first use a paper towel to remove any solid or excess liquid material. Afterwards, spray the area thoroughly with Bio one™ pet carpet cleaner, make sure the whole area is covered. Once this is complete leave Bio one™ to work for 5-10 minutes. Once this time is up you can use a clean cloth to rub away any remaining mess and excess product. Leave the carpet to dry naturally and the odour will have completely vanished.

Litter and pet bedding

We suggest keeping pets’ houses and litter trays on hard flooring that is easy to wipe and pick up any excess material, or placing a catching mat outside of the tray or pet enclosure. But no matter how hard you try it can be impossible to keep cat litter or pet bedding off your carpet, whether it’s sawdust, hay, paper bedding, straw, soil or other material, if your pet comes inside you’re likely to find some of it inside too. Bio one™ can be safely used around your pet’s cage and litter trays so you don’t need to be concerned about harming your beloved pet.

To clean around your pet’s cage, we suggest moving the cage or litter tray to another location first, this will help you get to any material under the cage. Once the cage or litter tray has been moved, you can pick any large pieces of bedding material out of the carpet. The next step is to hoover the area to remove all of the stray litter or pet bedding.

Once the area is free of debris, you can spray it with Bio one™ enzyme remover. Make sure you wait 5-10 minutes to allow the product to work before placing your pet’s cage or litter box back. Your carpet will then be completely clean, fresh and free from any harmful bacteria. This process will remove pet odours from your home and keep carpets smelling fresh. We suggest doing this on a regular basis every few days or so, especially if your pet is prone to making a mess or a repeat application if the odour is really set in.

What are enzymes?

Don’t be fooled to think that because enzymes are natural they are less effective than chemical cleaners. Enzymes are nature’s very own powerful cleaning tools. Making them the go to choice for pet owners who do not want to spray harmful chemicals around their pets and their home.

Simply put, enzymes are all around us performing millions of important tasks in our bodies and in nature every single day. They are a type of protein that act like a biological catalyst to speed up the break down of organic compounds.

Similarly to how saliva, (which contains enzymes), initiates the digestion process by breaking down food in our mouths, cleaning enzymes use the same ‘enzymatic digestion’ to effectively break down and eradicate the organic proteins present in urine, faeces, vomit, drool, dirt, food, and more.

This process not only makes cleaning easier but also prevents the growth of bad bacteria – the root cause of those unpleasant odours – in the air, on surfaces, and within the fibres of your soft furnishings.

Try outBio one™today, vomit and the other nasties is what nature created enzymes for.
