You’ve heard about them living inside our gut – and when eating healthily we might prop up this friendly crew with a probiotic yoghurt, containing millions of friends to support digestive health.
So – we know friendly bacteria do something good for us – but how does this work with cleaning?
This is about breaking things down. In the case of our own bodies, this is about food. In the case of cleaning, this is about dirt, grime, stains and odours.
The friendly bacteria don’t mind whether they’re in our stomach or on our cooker hob, worktop or carpet. Hey – a meal’s a meal to a budding bacterium! (Side note: cleaning products are for cleaning, not for eating! If you want to love your insides, too, look for probiotic yoghurts in the refrigerator aisle!)
But how do they work?
Our bio-enzyme cleaning products are packed with these friendly bacteria. When they hit the surface that needs to be clean, they start producing enzymes.
What are they?
These are the toolkits of the bacteria. When confronted by a feast, the bacteria start producing enzymes that accelerate reactions and help the bacteria break up the grime faster.
Are enzymes bacteria?
Nope – think of the enzyme as a boost of caffine for the good bacteria. They accelerate the multiplication of the good bacteria.
Are enzymes alive?
No – they are the good bacteria’s power boost! As the bacteria multiplies it breaks down the grime, food, grease and stains into tiny pieces, then starts to feast!
